Anchorage, AK – January 1, 2021 –
Altman, Rogers & Co. commemorated its 30th anniversary as a certified public accounting firm in early January 2021. “Altman, Rogers & Co. is incredibly excited to be celebrating our 30-year anniversary in 2021. Our core values: leadership, experience, achievement, and dedication, have always been at the forefront of our firm and we strive to live by them. These values have helped make us what we are today and will continue to carry us into the future. I feel incredibly blessed to have worked for such an amazing company for the past seventeen years and send a heartfelt thanks to our clients, past and present employees, and the founding partners: Tim Altman and Karen Rogers, for all that they have done to make Altman, Rogers & Co. such an amazing company. I look forward to another 30 years of success”, says firm CEO Grant Todd.
Altman, Rogers & Co. was started in 1991 by Timothy G. Altman and Karen I. Rogers as a small, local certified public accounting firm in Anchorage, Alaska. In the thirty years since, the firm has grown to three offices with fifty staff to service the clientele Altman, Rogers & Co. knows best: Alaska. The firm provides audit and attest, tax preparation and planning, accounting and payroll, election, and consulting services.
In 2014, when the last founding shareholder, Karen Rogers, retired, the firm added three additional shareholders, and in 2015, the firm’s most tenured employee, Steve Wadleigh, became the firm’s sixth shareholder. “It is amazing how fast we have grown from a small firm to the largest locally owned CPA firm in the state. We could not achieve that without the vision from our partner group and incredible employees who work hard to achieve our goals. The key to Altman, Rogers & Co.’s success has been improvements in technology, training, and expansion of services to our clients based upon their needs. At Altman, Rogers & Co., providing quality and affordable services to our clients has always been the key to our success”, says Steve Wadleigh. In early 2020, Ryan Johns became the firm’s seventh shareholder, bringing with him a new perspective on the tax practice side of the firm’s operations.
“The name ‘Altman, Rogers & Co.’ has become a recognizable name within the Alaska business community over the past 30 years – a trend that we intend to continue for many more years as we become a greater resource for local companies and non-profit organizations”, says Johns. The firm’s growth over the past three decades has led the firm to add two additional offices, one in Juneau and one in Soldotna. Joe Moore is the firm’s most tenured shareholder and manages the firm’s Soldotna office. “An organization, no matter how well-designed, is only as good as the people within it. We have been fortunate to have exceptionally talented and dedicated employees on our team along the way. Here’s to 30 more years!”. The Juneau office currently services all of Southeast Alaska. Erik Pearson was recently promoted to Audit Manager for the office. “Our Juneau office is privileged to be involved with and to serve our Southeast Alaska communities. We are proud to celebrate serving Alaska for 30 years, and we look forward to the next 30 years.”
2020 was a challenging year for small businesses, yet the firm was still able to excel. It was the recipient of two “Alaska Business Monthly” Best of Alaska Awards including first place for Best Accounting Services and second place for Best Place to Work, 1-250 Employees; Alaska Better Business Bureau Tier Two Torch Award for Ethics; and recognized as one of the state’s few companies to be Great Place to Work-Certified TM. “It is an honor to win an award, but to be the recipient of multiple awards in the most challenging year for not only our firm but other Alaskan businesses, is truly a privilege,” says Firm Administrator Heather Savery.
Despite the firm’s growth and achievements, it has continued to maintain its reputation as a firm that is a family. Audit Manager Katie Stachow says, “I look back on the last decade of our firm with both fondness and awe. We grow every year, yet we have kept the traditions like family and community just as we always have. Each new year brings a lot of excitement for potential, and I can’t wait to see where we go from here!”

” As a medium size medical practice undergoing transition with retirement, hospital affiliations, shifting insurance alliances, as well as COVID-19, we found ourselves in the midst of a restructuring. Altman, Rogers & Co. did an outstanding job assisting in the audit as we transition the practice to the new ownership as well as assuming the bookkeeping and accounting responsibilities as we move the practice forward. They did an exemplary job, and I recommend them.”
